In the November 2023 Cambridge A-Level examinations, a remarkable feat unfolded as eight students, six of whom are currently only in Year 8, undertook an exam intended for Year 11 and 12 students. Under the guidance of Ms. Mami Makino, all eight students achieved outstanding A grades, showcasing an extraordinary level of academic prowess and determination. This achievement holds special significance as it marks the third consecutive year that Ms. Mami and her students have accomplished the remarkable feat of securing all A grades. This consistent success underscores the exceptional teaching and mentorship provided by Ms. Mami and highlights the dedication and brilliance exhibited by the students under her tutelage. The collective effort of both teacher and students in achieving such consistent excellence is truly commendable and stands as a testament to the exceptional educational environment fostered within our institution. Written by Shelby Aomjan, Kindergarten Teacher and Syndicate Coordinator In Term 1 our Kindergarten children participate in a Healthy Bodies inquiry. Throughout the inquiry children explore ways of keeping their bodies safe in the sun, hygiene routines such as brushing their teeth and washing hands, different parts of the body and foods we eat. The Quolls class are able to identify the different kinds of foods they like to eat, such as a variety of fruits and vegetables, as well as treats which are to be enjoyed sometimes. As children had shown such interest in sharing which types of foods they like to eat, 'cooking' them in the play kitchen and serving them to their peers, they participated in a hands-on experience to further explore. The children were able to observe the skins, peels, stems and seeds of foods they eat often, identifying different parts of a plant, and those parts which they may not always see before they eat. Children were then encouraged to stamp and roll with the fruits and vegetables, noticing the patterns and shapes that they created. The Quolls participated with enthusiasm and shared their observations with staff, noting "This is sticky", "That one is a circle", and "Oh no a leaf fell off". The children’s creative painting has now been displayed in the classroom where they can continue to notice the different shapes, patterns and textures the foods created on the paper, revisiting their learning and sharing their creations with others.

The AISB Innovation Centre this Saturday, December 2 is the place to be with some of Bangkok’s best and brightest swimmers battling it out to be crowned 2023 Super Splash Champions! AngloSingapore31, Raffles, AngloSingapore 64, St. Andrews with hosts AISB will be racing in electrifying 25 Metre, 50 Metre and relay races set to ignite the crowd into a frenzy! AISB Swim Co- Captain, Kai mentioned “We can’t wait to host these schools and I am predicting a few records to tumble! Equally excited was Co-Captain, Kate who said “We have worked really hard for this and our aim is to do our best and have fun! We are hoping to see many school friends come out and support us”. AISB is well represented with 50 athletes from Under 9 to Over 15. Entry is free, food and drink available at the entrance. Gates open at 8AM with the final races at 12:30PM.

This momentous event was a celebration of athleticism, camaraderie, and the vibrant spirit of our diverse student body. Under the bright sun and against the scenic backdrop of the Tahi-Japan Youth Centre, students from various year levels came together to participate in a thrilling array of track and field events. From sprints to long jumps to shot puts, and obstacle courses the athletic prowess displayed by our students was truly awe-inspiring. Each participant, whether our smallest of Year 1's to our biggest of Year 12's showcased determination, perseverance, and an unwavering commitment to give their best. The vibrant energy was not limited to the track and field; supporters and parents cheered passionately from the sidelines, representing our houses, and fostering an atmosphere of unity and school pride. What made this Athletics Day truly exceptional was the unison of cultures and nationalities. AISB's diverse community was on full display, with students of different backgrounds coming together, competing, and supporting one another with enthusiasm and respect. AISB's inaugural Athletics Day at the Tahi-Japan Youth Centre was more than a sporting event; it was a testament to the school's commitment to holistic education, fostering not just academic excellence but also physical fitness, teamwork, and a spirit of inclusivity. This week marked a special occasion at the Innovation Centre, as each year level visited on designated days for a morning filled with activities in Design Technology, Media Arts, Digital Technology, and Art and Design—all centered around the theme of light. In Visual Art and Design, students had fun using ultraviolet paint to create paintings that lit up under UV light. In Media Arts, students did shadow drawings, exploring light and shadow using various objects. They changed the angle and distance of the light source to see how shadows transformed. For Design Technologies, students got creative making shadow puppets. They looked at different puppet styles from around the world for inspiration. Some added cutouts inside their puppets, while others designed parts for movement. The fun part? Performing with their puppets. In Digital Technology, they mastered the control of Sphero robots, experimented with changing colors and honing their skills in sequencing instructions. Navigating the robot through simple mazes provided a hands-on and engaging experience in the world of digital innovation.

Written by Ms. Cari, Physical Education & Swimming Teacher Our Kindergarten and Foundation students enjoyed the fun and excitement of their Sports Day on the 13th & 14th of November. Students took part in activities at five different stations with the support of their class teachers and members of the PE and Sports team. Their efforts in the Fishing game, Tube Relay, Obstacle course, Caterpillar walk and Target throw were outstanding and the students enjoyed demonstrating all their learning and development from their PMP lessons. Our parents enthusiastically cheered on as the students took to the field to showcase their skills. It's was wonderful to witness the joy and excitement that the students experienced while participating in such activities, which will go a long way to foster a love for physical activity and sports in our young students. Members of the AISB community gathered together on Wednesday, the 18th of October, for the student council investiture ceremony. This is an official assembly to acknowledge the elected council members, recite the school pledge and formally hand out our student council badges. The school recently celebrated a delightful event, during which our elected student representatives were officially inducted. The representatives will play a crucial role in voicing the concerns and ideas of the student body, contributing to the growth and improvement of our school community. The student council at our school is a group of enthusiastic individuals who are eager to make a positive impact on our school community. These responsible leaders have already demonstrated their ability to take charge and lead with confidence. Amber also generously shared the challenges she faced as a young leader and talked about how she overcame these. This inspired our future leaders to have no fear, be brave and believe in themselves. Written by Ms. Melissa, U9 & U11 Football Squad Manager On Saturday 28 October, AISB U9 and U11 football squads participated in their first at home tournament, against the visiting teams from BASIS and Anglo 64. With smiles on their faces, both teams showcased their passion and skill in the friendly yet competitive matches. Parents cheered from the sidelines, as we all supported these budding athletes dribbling, passing and shooting their way across the turf. It was a heartwarming display of teamwork, sportsmanship and the joy of playing the beautiful game. Players went home, tired and content at having played their hearts out. We look forward to the rest of their upcoming games this season!

This week Year 2 students continued their exploration of forces and movement. They were tasked with building model cars that were powered by the invisible force of the wind. They experimented with creating different sail designs to see which allowed their car to travel faster and further and then had a great time testing their creations by racing around the latest addition to the Formula 1 calendar, AISB Speedway. Congratulations to our winning race engineers and everyone involved.

Written by Mr. Andre, Head of Sports On Saturday, 23rd September, the AISB U11 Football Squad demonstrated their sportsmanship and talent as they participated in an exciting football tournament hosted at the International School Bangkok (ISB). We competed in the B Group against ISB, Shrewsbury and RIS. The AISB U11 squad won all 3 of their games and exhibited commendable teamwork and determination throughout the tournament. The players displayed great enthusiasm and dedication, embodying the spirit of sportsmanship. Their discipline and respect towards both opponents and officials were evident, making our coaches, managers & supporting parents proud. The tournament not only provided a chance for the players to engage in healthy competition but also enabled them to enhance their football skills and understanding of the game. The squad embraced the experience and learning opportunities offered during each match, reflecting their commitment to growth and improvement. Overall, the AISB U11 Football Squad showcased their athletic talent and represented the school with pride, leaving a positive mark on the tournament and reinforcing the school's commitment to fostering a culture of sportsmanship and excellence.

Written by Andre Du Toit Traditionally, AISB sports day involved a variety of athletic-based events and competitions for secondary students. This year, our AISB Secondary School participated in the very first Secondary Sports Day, involving secondary students from years 7-12. The day included human-Hoop (basketball type game), volleyball, table tennis and badminton. Due to covid restrictions, competitions were limited to year levels competing only against other teams in their year group. It was an enjoyable day with Correa coming out victorious after the final round. All house points accumulated on the day will be added to the Primary School's house points they earn by competing in various athletic activities later this month in the primary school sports week.
