On behalf of the community of the Australian International School of Bangkok, I welcome you to our school website. Our school community of staff, students and families come from many different parts of the world. In any one year the student population will have students from more than 40 nationalities. The happy, purposeful, learning atmosphere of the school is generated by the work of dedicated, professionally qualified teachers, supported by a team of Teacher Assistants, nannies, administration and ancillary staff, all united in the cause of helping our students to achieve their personal best in all areas of learning.

As an Early Years Leader, I am deeply passionate about providing high-quality education and care for young children. I am committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment, where children are encouraged to explore, create, use critical thinking, enhance their social-emotional and language skills, and become independent learners. I believe that strong partnerships with families are key to bridging home and school. Inclusivity and play-based learning drive our diverse environment, shaping a bright future for every child.

HANNAH CAREW
Deputy Head of Primary and
Head of Teaching and Learning
I am an Australian educator and leader in education, fulfilling many educational roles within the New South Wales Department of Education including: Relieving Principal, Deputy Principal, Senior Education Officer and Class Teacher. I have a Master in Leadership and Management in Education, a Graduate Certificate in International Education and a Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies specialising in Special Education. I aim to inspire students to become lifelong learners who are compassionate, kind, caring citizens.

As a school leader, I have a high commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive learning school environment. For our younger students, I feel it is especially important that we provide them the experiences which are intentionally designed to build a strong foundation of the learner profile traits such as collaboration, perseverance, risk-taking and compassion.

I am a dedicated educator, native to South Africa, driven by an unwavering enthusiasm for the art of teaching and the process of learning. My academic journey led me to attain a Masters in Education from the University of Essex, a pursuit rooted in my aspiration to assume a transformative role in the mentorship and intellectual development of students within our Secondary School.

MICHAEL BRYCE
Head of Secondary School

For the last 16 years I have been a high school Principal in Sydney. Originally a Geography and Economics graduate I have held many different and quite varied positions within the Department of Education in NSW across western and southwestern areas of the city. My experiences in multicultural high schools will help me at AISB. I completed my Graduate honours degree at the University of NSW and my Master of Education at the university of Western Sydney.

GARETH OPENSHAW
Head of STEAM and
Assistant Head of Primary
I am a British educator from Bolton in the United Kingdom. My teaching career began in 2009, and I have taught in British, Thai and International schools. My time at AISB began in 2018 as a classroom teacher in Year 1. Over the years, my role evolved, and now I have stepped out of the classroom into a full-time leadership role. In addition to being the Assistant Head of Primary, I am also the Head of STEAM, working with our STEAM teachers to provide a quality, well resourced STEAM program to our students.
