The annual Songkran Festival, also known as the Thai New Year, is a significant event in Thailand's cultural calendar. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about the rich cultural heritage of Thailand while celebrating together as a community.
For many students and staff, this was their first time experiencing the traditional Thai festival of Songkran. The festival was an excellent opportunity for them to learn more about the cultural significance of the event and the customs that are associated with it. It was an inclusive event that brought together students from different backgrounds and allowed them to celebrate together as a community.

At our Soi 31 campus, the festival was celebrated with great excitement and energy. Students and staff came dressed in traditional Thai attire and floral shirts. The Thai department organized various activities to help them understand the significance and history of the festival.

One of the activities was the water-pouring ceremony, where students poured water over the hands of their elders. This allowed our students to learn about the cultural significance of the ceremony, respect their elders, and demonstrate gratitude. The ceremony symbolizes the purification of the mind, body, and soul, washing away sins and bad luck and providing a fresh start and a clean slate for the new year.
The school courtyard was transformed into a festive and colorful space where students played traditional Songkran games by splashing water on each other and having water fights. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, joy, and a sense of camaraderie as the students bonded over the shared experience.
The Songkran celebration was a huge success, and it was evident that everyone had a great time. It was a wonderful way to end the term and celebrate the traditions of Thailand. Incorporating cultural celebrations and traditions into our curriculum allows our students to learn and appreciate different cultures and customs.
In summary, the Soi 31 campus celebrated the Songkran Festival with great enthusiasm and energy. The festival provided an excellent opportunity for students to learn about Thailand's rich cultural heritage and to celebrate together as a community.
It was a memorable event that ended term 2 on a high note.
