Diving into Songkran: Secondary School's Celebration of Thai New Year

On the final day of Term 2, our secondary school celebrated Songkran, the Thai New Year, with a fantastic event that brought our community together in a joyous celebration of culture and tradition.

The celebration kicked off with a lively thai music performance by our talented thai teachers and students, who dressed in beautiful and colorful costumes that added to the festive atmosphere. Their music filled the air with a sense of excitement and anticipation for the rest of the day's activities.

After the music performance, the water-pouring ceremony began with a solemn and reverent atmosphere. The ceremony was an important part of the Songkran tradition, and it was a great opportunity for our students to pay respect to the school heads, teachers, TAs, and nannies.

Following the ceremony, everyone moved outdoors for the highlight of the celebration: the water splashing activity at the basketball court. Everyone had a blast splashing and soaking each other with water, and laughing with delight as they enjoyed this playful and traditional part of the Songkran celebration.

Overall, the Songkran celebration was a wonderful way to end the term 2, bringing our school community together in a spirit of fun, friendship, and cultural appreciation. It was a great reminder of the importance of traditions and the joy that can be found in celebrating them with others.
