AISB Swimmers Shine at Youth Exchange School Swim Championships

On Sunday 18th February, AISB took 35 swimmers to The Youth Exchange School to compete in the annual Swim championships against 20 other schools.

It was a short course Championship, focusing on 25-metre and 50-metre events. We had students competing in the U/9 to Open category and every student improved their times by over 20%, which was a remarkable achievement!

Some of the highlights for Secondary were the performances of Kate, Bailey, Rin , Riko , Yu, and Aiyara finishing in the top 11 swimmers for their age group. Kai broke the AISB 25-metre Freestyle and 25-metre Butterfly records respectively, and Kate broke the AISB 25-metre freestyle record. We finished 2nd in the relays.

Overall, AISB finished 4th on points out of 20 schools which was an incredible achievement given our school size. The day was well-led by our Swim Team Captains, Kai (Year 9) and Kate (Year 10).

A huge thank you to the wonderful parents we have preparing and supporting your children on a busy Sunday and a special thank you to Year 10 students, Mari and Pimmada for giving up their Sunday to volunteer as helpers on the day providing some much-needed support of our Under 9 swimmers. Thank you to the staff, Mr. Rogden and Mr. Ed for your excellent work.

We look forward to our next Meet, The Marlin Mayhem at St. Andrews International School on the 2nd and 3rd of March, 2024.
